I spent pretty much all week with Janis while Albrecht worked a lot. Starting a new business is no joke. I´m grateful that we have the support system to be able to do that and figure it all out before we have more responsibilities than just ourselves. We are making the most of it and learning a lot while doing so 🙂 on to life lately…
“My life has been a path at the edge of uncertainty. Today, I think we educate kids to be settled in a comfortable chair. You have your job, you have your little car, you have a place to sleep and the dreams are dead. You don’t grow on a secure path. All of us should conquer something in life and it needs a lot of work and it needs a lot of risk. In order to grow and to improve, you have to be there a bit at the edge of uncertainty.” – Francis Mallmann
I´ve been thinking more and more about this. How we train our society, our kids and even ourselves to think that comfort and security is the ultimate goal. Life lately has been full of craving security but at the same time realizing that there is so much more to feel, experience and explore if I trust to go into the unknown and feel the unfelt.
More on the not so deep note 😉 we have been bringin life into our new living room.
Right after Katharina moved 0ut it looked like this 😀 just a random collection of things and a place to sit in the cool while the chair from the balcony was the only comfy option available 😉 VIEW POST
Life lately was spent at home and in Holland 🙂
Albrecht found blackberries on his way to his workshop. So one night he decided to pick them and we turned them into jam 🙂
I believe that one of the most valuable gifts you can give yourself is time. Taking time to be more fully present. Your journey to become more inspired and connected to the deeper world around us starts right now.
I‘ve been trying really hard to take that quote to heart lately. I get so caught up with the things ‚I need to do‘ and completely stopped questioning why I thought those were even important to me. So taking time for myself has been a real game changer lately. But life also happened 😉
I took a quick to Utrecht, Netherlands for a meeting, obviously not to get Spa Water 😀
It was a lot of traveling but its always fun to be in the Netherlands. Even if its just 3 hours.
HELLO 🙂 🙂
The weeks leading up do the wedding at the end of June were hectic. Just pure madness. Now everything has slowed down and I´m loving it. It doesnt go without its challenges to get things done without having structure haha but I enjoy having lots of down time and the warm weather lately.
We got watercolors as a wedding gift and I´ve been putting it to use. I LOVE IT. Especially having different brushes and stuff. Definitely a wedding gift that will last a while <3
We have been loving the “feedback” postcards we got after our wedding. Nothing more sweet than being suprised by a beautiful postcard from sweet friends telling you how much they enjoyed the wedding!VIEW POST
Life lately has been full of school and wedding preparation. But I snuck away and visited Albrecht at his workplace love seeing him in his element!
On Tuesday night I went straight from school to the airport to pick up Carlee and Noel who are visiting from Canada! I could not wait to see them but I cant believe that we didnt take single picture together
First things first though: we went to McDonalds haha it was actually the only place that was still open. So on their first night here we took a walk through the city and had good old McDonalds 😉
After I finished my last assignment for this semester we spent a day in Cologne. So good!
Life is so busy right now that I forget to take pictures but we did quite a bit of walking the city and along the Rhein and just enjoying having them over!
Have the best weekend!
Sophia and I went to Berlin last weekend. We had a long weekend and made use of our free time and the good weather in Berlin.
We pretty much ate our way through Berlin, thats why half of my pictures are pictures of food. I will do a post on what I love to eat in Berlin on Monday 🙂
We ended up meeting up with good friend of mine who also happened to be in Berlin. Totally unplanned but so good!
Shopping towels in Berlin 😉 we decided to gift Alex new towels because he was SO in the need for new towels. An hour later and we found this collection 🙂 🙂
Just for fun we strolled through KaDeWe and I was absolutely shocked to see these shoes! Like what the heck! Apparently they are back in style…
Meeting up with another friend and enjoying Falafel – which are almost as good as the ones I ate in Israel.
We enjoyed a classical concert at the University of Arts (UdK).
I needed to show Sophia the wash salon close to Alex apartment, so we went at washed Alex laundry 😉
Flea market in Berlin.
We went to see the muscial Ghost, because Alex works there and got us free tickets. It was pretty good, although I am probably not the person who would have payed for it.
Funny story, Alex sister fell in love with Indian mangos so she tried to hunt some down and could only find them in Berlin. So she sent me to this place (which was so small) and I bought 8 mangos for her haha
They are so good!! They have absolutely nothing in common with the mangos we usually buy.
The train I took back from Berlin to Bonn happened to stop in Wuppertal. So I literally stepped out of the train, handed her the mangos, turned back around and got on the train again haha
but I made a pretty good trade lol I gave her the mangos and she handed me sushi! So good!
That has been life lately! We had a really good time and I spent the rest of the week catching up on everything and trying to get a head start on things because the upcoming two weeks until the wedding are crazy busy!
Lots of love!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Life lately has been a wild mix of everything, so here it goes…
I had a headache on that day but managed to get at least one thing done: shopping at Ikea but seeing those pretty things for our wedding decor made me very happy!
the weather has been so nice and warm lately that I have been living in my Birkenstocks 🙂
Albrecht and I spent our date night strolling along the Rhein River and just talked. So good!
I went to Bochum for work and visited my family and also picked up Albrechts backpack from a friend. As you can see – I would totally fit into his backpack 😀
We did a school trip to Wala Heilmittel in Bad Boll and it was so interesting to see their company and get to know their corporate philosophy.
Wala has a Demeter (organic) farm enclosed which was fascinating in itself too.
I stayed in Stuttgart for the weekend and met up with Albrecht, but first girlfriend night with burger!
We ended the weekend spending time with family and eating strawberries! So good!
Life is busy right now. Both mentally and physically. Albrecht is working a lot, my school schedule keeps me busy while we also try to wedding plan and teach Albrecht how to ballroom dance for our first dance ;-). I´m also still figuring this whole going to university thing out, which includes writing papers, understanding research papers and studying for exams.
I´m trying to be ahead with packing for our wedding. There is just so much stuff that we need to take and so much going on right before the wedding that I´m trying to cross of as much of my list as possible. I was putting these flowers into vases and into this box the other day to be able to safely transport them to our wedding location and thought it looked so pretty! I never intended to have it be this pink but I LOVE all the love that went into these 200 paper flowers.
I decided to sew my veil myself just because then I can customize the length and lace etc.. I didnt want to take the risk of ordering something online but also didnt want to spend a ton of money. So I´ve been spending my evenings like this – sewing this veil by hand while watching old royal weddings 😀
I tried out this yummy glutenfree cake the other day. It was so good and a hit with Albrecht. Eating it you didnt even realize that it was glutenfree, it tasted like a normal cake would.
For whatever reason I´v been craving french fries with greek zaziki and yesterday I finally ate some. So good!
We learned something lately: in this crazy world we live in its sometimes cheaper to buy things than to rent them. So we bought 18 huge table clothes 😀 to safe money I decided to wash and iron them myself. Dont mind the missing ironing bord, the bed is just as good 😀
So thats what I´ve been doing. Ironing…Ironing…
6 down, 12 to go!
Last night Albrecht and I made us of the rare occasion that we are both home and the good weather and took a walk along the Rhein. So pretty!
We are having a quiet weekend with papers to write and table clothes to iron 😉 wishing you a very relaxing and fulling weekend!
Lots of love,
For us in Germany its a long weekend, yesterday was a holiday which usually turns into a 4 days weekend for everyone. Not me this week because I have school 3 out of 4 days but still, lives moves a little slower on these days.
My dad was texting me the other day saying “you should start blogging again” – and he is right! Sometimes, life changing moments give me all the words and sometimes I have non at all afterwards. With my mom having had a stroke and our family dynamic totally changing it has been just that. All the words and then non at all.
I had a lot of school during the last two weeks and tried to squeeze in some family time.
