WEDDING – PART FOUR

August 13, 2018

If you missed the rest of my wedding recap you can read it here…

Part one

Part two

Part three

On to the last part! This post does not follow a chronological ordner 😉

Early on Albrecht and I knew that our vision for this weekend would include a kitchen where “we” could cook for everyone. Just like at home the kitchen is the heart of it all, so we felt like it would add a lot of value to our weekend if the kitchen would be in our hands and not have the food catered to us. The question was always though how we could pull that off, since we knew that both Albrecht and I would not be able to cook ourselves. There are only very few people who I would trust with running a kitchen under not so easy circumstances with everyone else helping out – Alex (pictured above) being at the top of that list! Let me tell you – we lucked out having Alex there! He volunteered to run the kitchen and did so, with so much joy! It didnt matter how stressful things got, he always was willing to answer questions, managed all the people volunteering and miraculously was also part of every moment of our wedding. Non of it would have been possible without Alex help!

We served sheet cake right after the wedding ceremony. We baked the sheet cake beforehand and it saved a ton of time on the weekend itself and worked out wonderfully!

Preparation for the salad bar we had at the buffet!

This cheese plates were a big hit at our wedding and I´m still so very impressed how beautiful they turned out!!

Everyone sat down for the reception and these cheese plates were waiting at the table. It was a nice way to start the evening on a relaxed note. Also, it looked really nice which doesnt hurt either 😉

Besides the cheese plates we had a full buffet with a salad bar, quiche, anti pasti and so much more. Sadly I only have a picture of half of it.

For the main course we served pasta with either tomato sauce, meat sauce or parmesan.

The parmesan was also a big hit. Alex re-heated the pasta and put it into the parmesan! Delicious!

We cut the parmesan into 80 small pieces afterwards and everyone got to take a piece home!

For dessert we served lemon-mascarpone mousse and instead of a wedding cake we did apple cumble with whipped cream! It was so good!! Since Albrecht cant it gluten and lactose, this was an easy way to substitute the traditional wedding cake.

Our wedding weekend was more than we could have dreamed or hoped for and I´m so glad we have it to look back on it our whole lives!

WEDDING PART TWO

July 30, 2018

On to recap the next part of our unforgettable wedding weekend. If you missed part one you can read it here…

We started Friday night off we supper with almost everyone. A few couldnt make it but still the majority of people where there.

I was a little nervous how everybody would feel about us bringing them out there and making them spend a weekend with people they dont know but oh lord it turned out SO GOOD!! Like the absolutely best good haha. We did a lot of planning and preparing for this weekend and thought about what would be important to us and it fell into place. It ended up being this wonderful weekend where everybody felt included, welcomed, loved but also was a part of it and not “just” a guest. Albrecht and I had time to really catch up with people, which was so nice!!

One of my fondest memories are of ending Friday night around the fire, talking and singing songs.

Saturday morning was a lot of everything! We had breakfast together and it made this weekend extra special to share our meals together! We had the wedding at 3, so there was some time between breakfast and the wedding. And people did all sort of things. Some went to take a walk, some visited a big organic company close by, some stayed at the place and enjoyed some relaxed time and almost everyone pitched in at some point. Here are a few impressions…

Alex was the chef cook of the weekend. He managed everything regarding kitchen and cooking and you could aways ask him and he would have task for you. Without him the whole eating/cooking/sharing meals together would not have got half as smooth!

remember the paper flowers we made? They were a huge hit!!

To be continued…

WEDDING PART ONE

July 23, 2018

I have absolutely no idea how to recap our wedding weekend since it holds SO MANY wonderful memories and we are left with gazillion pictures but I will try. So here goes part one of I don´t know how many 😉

We started Thursday morning in Bonn, going to Stuttgart with two cars full of stuff. While we drove down, 3 of our friends started backing sheet cake in Stuttgart already and my sister did the same but at home. I´m telling you it was a whole thing getting ready for this weekend and it takes a village.

Albrecht met with my best friend Janis in Öhringen to pick up all the food we had ordered for the weekend. It was a lot. It was Janis Mercedes Sprinter pretty much packed.

It was glorious having that much yummy food but it was also kind of a lot 😀

I think we were like 11 people all doing stuff, preparing food, laughing and being so excited for this weekend to start. I wish I had more pictures of that evening. We ended up ordering Pizza and sitting on the floor sharing it and I felt so lucky in that moment to be surrounded by all these wonderful human beings!

One of the best things we did was order a at home manicure. We never did anything like it and were conviced it would cost a fortune but it didnt. We had the best time getting our nails done (while the boys continued cooking 😉 ), chatting and loving our time together!

We started Friday morning, still pretty sleepy and got things going. We didnt to pick up glasses we rented, prepare more food and most importantly fit everything, including us, into all the cars.

We had 5 cars and a trailer, 11 people and A TON of stuff and food. One car less and we would have been screwed.

We were playing tetris. I ended up pick 3 of the girls up at Birtes place where they stayed the night. Which made me drive in the opposite direction first before we were heading the same way everyone else was.

Things on that morning were not going according to plan so we were late to begin with and the four of us were the last car to leave. All 5 cars were texting to check in if there was any traffic and one by one everyone got stuck in traffic. And one by one everyone got through except us. The first car took 1,5 hours to get there – we took 3, 5 hours to get there.

Most of the time it looked like this.

We tried to make the most of it, ate some food we had in the car haha and cheered ourselve up that non of the guests would arrive early because they would be stuck in traffic too 😉

We pretty much arrived when the first guests were arriving too but all the other cars and people had arrived already and saved the day! It ended up all working out perfectly, it just took a minute to have everything sorted out. Luckily we are all used to working together and our circle of friends just knows how to get stuff done.

We finished off the day with supper with everyone, a speech by the priest and songs around a fire. More to come on that….

HAPPY MONDAY NO 22 – WEDDING INSPIRATION EDITION

April 16, 2018

Good Monday!

The weather has been so good here lately and it makes for a very happy sunday for sure!

We’ve been wedding planning like its our business. I thought I would share today what served as an inspiration because it makes me happy knowing where we started and I’m excited to see how it all comes to fution.

The Wedding itself

We wanted to combine our wedding with a big get together. Really celebrate together and enjoy each others company, rather than we invite everyone for one evening. So we found a place where we can make sure that everyone has a place to sleep in an actual bed while we also have a kitchen and place to celebrate with 100 people. We combined our wedding with a weekend get together and are doing it camping style. VIEW POST

HAPPY MONDAY NO 18 – WEDDING INVITATION EDITION

February 19, 2018

Happy Monday!!

I fixed my picture uploading error – if you like to read my life lately post from last week you can do so here.

We sent out our invitations about two weeks ago and people are starting to get back to us and comment on our invitation and nothing makes me happier!

I spent hours and hours on Pinterest looking for templates that I liked because I knew that I like a good “corporate design” but also wanted to save some money and not have them custom designed. I found an invitation suite on creative market place . It had 8 templates for a Save the Date card, Invitation, Tablenumber and all sorts of cards you could use. All could be completely modified with Photoshop.

HAPPY MONDAY NO 16 – PAPER FLOWERS

January 29, 2018

Happy Monday!!

Read about all my other Happy Mondays here

I never thought I would say this but flowers are making me extremely happy on this very Monday. A few years ago I could not have cared less for a bouquet of flowers but somehow this has changed and now its like the best suprise gift ever that I could receive.

Over the weekend 9 of us (good friends, my sister and Albrecht and I) met to prepare for our wedding in June and because I had been sick during the week two friends brought me flowers! So sweet and the best start into the weekend! And oh so fitting.

For whatever reason I thought it would be a fun and good idea to do and make paper flowers for our wedding. It pretty soon occured to me that I must have been crazy to think that this would be a good idea but let me tell you IT WAS SO WORTH IT!!!
